Abacus Recordings Europe is pleased to announce the release of Atlanta Georgia-based metal band, BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE (in license from Solid State Records). Bringing their relentless‚ no-frills metal to the masses on December 5 th‚ 2005 all over Europe, their debut album, Terminate Damnation, is sure to make even the most calloused listener an instant believer.
Formed in the summer of 1999, the five-piece caught Solid State’s attention in the summer of 2004 while playing a festival with Demon Hunter, a band whose members also work at the label. “I heard them from afar and was instantly intrigued,” explains Demon Hunter frontman Ryan Clark. “I ran over and caught their set and was amazed at how technical and driving the musicianship was; I was instantly intent on signing them.”
The band has already released a full-length, self-produced album as The Remnant in early 2004. The band entered the studio in March 2005 at Seattle’s Compound for the recording their 11-song opus which was then given a shot of brutality courtesy of Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Heaven Shall Burn, Hatesphere) who laid down the final mix and mastering at his Antfarm studio in Denmark. In a celebration of all that is truly heavy, the band melds its style from all across the metal and hardcore spectrum, utilizing guitar solos‚ blast beats and grind vocals seamlessly. Carefully blending elements of epic, progressive metal‚ thrash‚ hardcore‚ and death metal‚ BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE is a breath of fresh air in a scene often ruled by watered down‚ mediocre bands cut from the same ‘‘metal-core‘‘ mold. No matter where they go they continue to prove that they have everything it takes to be the future of the metal/hardcore scenes. In addition to being a musical tribute to early death metal, Terminate Damnation is made all the more vicious visually by harnessing the amazing cover artwork skills by the legendary Dan Seagrave who designed the classic albums of Morbid Angel, Suffocation and Entombed. Don’t be late on this boat. This is the metal band to keep your eyes on. For fans of Carcass‚ Opeth and Unearth.
